Royal Diary: upcoming engagements 16-22 September

This week will see Sophie, The Countess of Wessex head to Nairobi for the Commonwealth Women’s Affairs Ministers Meeting, while Princess Anne and The Duke of Gloucester are undertaking a number of engagements in Gloucestershire and London.

16th September: 

– As President of Bafta, The Duke of Cambridge will officially open the newly renovated premises in London’s Piccadilly.

– The Princess Royal,  President of the UK Fashion and Textile Association, will visit Courtney and Company Button Makers and open a new Heritage Centre in Bourton-on-the Water, Gloucestershire. She will then visit Allsorts in Stroud, a charity that supports and empowers children and young people with disabilities and additional needs on the occasion of its 10th anniversary.

17th September:

– The Princess Royal, Royal Fellow of The Royal Academy of Engineering, will open the Global Grand Challenges Summit at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London’s Southbank Centre. As patron of the Wooden Spoon Society, she will hold a Luncheon at St. James’s Palace.

– The Duke of Gloucester will visit Wilton Engineering Services Limited in Middlesborough. He will then visit the Auckland Project, Bishop Auckland. He will end the day in Tomlinson Hall in Billingham.

18th September:

– The Duke of Gloucester will visit Ford and Etal Estates in Cornhill-on-Tweed, Northumberland. He will then will officially open the Rutherford Cancer Centre North East, Bedlington. The Duke of Gloucester, in his capacity as Grand Prior of the Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem, will attend a dinner at Chapter Hall in the City of London.

19th September:

– The Countess of Wessex will be in Nairobi to attend the Commonwealth Women’s Affairs Ministers Meeting. She will also meet survivors of sexual violence in conflict in Kenya.

– The Duke of Gloucester, as Grand Prior of the Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem, will hold an Investiture of Knights and Dames of the Order at the Priory Church of St. John in London’s Clerkenwell. Later on, as patron of the Global Heritage Fund UK, he will attend a dinner at St James’s Palace.

20th September:

– The Countess of Wessex is in Nairobi where the Commonwealth Women’s Affairs Ministers Meeting is expected to end today.

21st September:

– The Prince of Wales will attend commemorations in The Netherlands marking the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Arnhem.
