Royal diary: upcoming engagements 30th April – 6th May

A quieter week from the principal royals, but plenty going on for Princess Anne, The Earl of Wessex and some of The Queen’s cousins.

Princess Anne has a busy week, with visits to Scotland and Shropshire (ROTA / i-Images )

30th April: 

– The Earl of Wessex, in his role as Chairman of Trustees of the Prince Philip Trust Fund for the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, will attend a Trustees’ Meeting at St George’s House in Windsor Castle. Prince Edward will then attend a dinner at the Castle’s Norman Tower

– The Princess Royal is in Scotland for a day of engagements; as patron of the Royal College of Midwives, will visit the Maternity Unit of Wishaw General Hospital in Lanarkshire. Princess Anne will then visit aerospace company Thales UK in Glasgow to mark its 25th anniversary. The Queen’s daughter will also visit Healthcare Environmental Group Limited’s Waste to Energy Plant in Lanarkshire.

1st May:

– The Duke of York will visit the Cambridge Centre for Smart Infrastructure and Construction; he will also open Gresham Court, Hughes Hall, at The University of Cambridge. Prince Andrew will open the Simon Sainsbury Centre at the Cambridge Judge Business School, as well as hosting a reception at St James’s Palace for the British-Kazakh Society, of which he is patron.

– Princess Anne will continue her visit to Scotland; as Chancellor of the University of Edinburgh, Anne will open The Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies Facilities at the Easter Bush Campus in Roslin. The Princess Royal will also attend Global Surgery presentations at The Chancellor’s Building and visit the University’s School of Engineering.

2nd May: 

– The Earl of Wessex will visit Radley College in Oxfordshire as part of his 2018 Real Tennis Tour and in his role as Chairman of the Board of Trustees, The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Foundation.

– The Duke of York will host a lunch at Buckingham Palace for The Duke of York’s Community Initiative, in his role as Patron. Andrew will also host a dinner at the Palace for his patronage, The Place, a London Contemporary Dance Trust.

– Princess Anne, Chancellor of Harper Adams University, will be in Shropshire to attend a University symposium on ‘Technology’s role in feeding the Commonwealth’. She will also be in attendance at a ceremony in St. Nicholas Church to mark the bicentenary of Thomas Harper Adams. The Princess Royal will also be in Cheshire to visit the Warrington Hospital Maternity Unit as Patron of The Royal College of Midwives.

– The Duke of Gloucester will be in Leicester to open the new Kibworth Medical Centre, visit the new HQ of the RAF Association and also the Hinckley and District Museum.

– Princess Alexandra will open the refurbished Percy Bilton Court Almshouses.

The Duke of York also has quite a few engagements this week, including a visit to the University of Cambridge (Andrew Parsons / i-Images

3rd May:

– The Duke of York will be in South Croydon to visit his patronage, Whitgift School.

– The Earl of Wessex, Trustee of The Duke of Edinburgh Award, will attend a dinner at Blenheim Palace.

– The Princess Royal will attend an AGM and reception at the National Museum of the Royal Navy as patron of the Women’s Royal Naval Service Benevolent Trust, and she will attend at Executive Board Meeting in her role as President of the British Olympic Association. Anne will also attend a UN International Maritime Organisation’s Executive Board dinner at The Corporation of Trinity House, as Master of the Corporation.

– The Duke of Kent will be in Wiltshire to unveil the hillside badge of Royal Warwickshire Regiment, and to visit Wilton Carpets.

4th May:

– Princess Anne will be in the Isle of Islay to visit Dunlossit Estate as patron of the WWI Centenary Woods project; she will also attend a service to commemorate the centenary of SS Tuscania and HMS Otranto Loss at the Mull of Oa and the Port Ellen War Memorial. The Princess Royal will also be at a reception at Ramsay Hall.

6th May:

– Princess Anne, vice patron of the British Horse Society, will attend Badminton Horse trials in Gloucestershire.

Of course, we expect Prince Harry and Meghan are finalising the details for their wedding, and will likely be attending a rehearsal this week or next..!
