The Queen’s Jewellery: Victoria’s pearl brooch

Another that once belonged to Queen Victoria, this brooch features eight large pearls in a diamond shape, with three pendant pearls hanging from it. The longest pendant hangs in the middle, while the space between the main pearls is a filigree design.

A rather chunky piece, and not one of my favourites I have to say, it is not the most popular piece in Her Majesty’s collection. The Queen only received it in 2002, after her mother’s death as The Queen Mother was fond of the brooch and held onto it after her daughter’s accession, despite it being owned by the Crown.

The Queen debuted it in her 2009 Christmas speech.
