The private event will take place at Althorp House, on what would have been the Princess’ 56th birthday (1st July). The service will be conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby.

There is currently a Mario Testino exhibition on at Diana’s ancestral home, featuring a number of unseen photos of the Princess.

It is expected that Prince George and Princess Charlotte will also attend, along with Diana’s brother, Earl Spencer, and her two sisters, Lady Jane Fellowes and Lady Sarah McCorquodale.

Earlier this year, William and Harry commissioned a statue to mark the 20th year of their mother’s passing; the statue will sit in Kensington Palace gardens, where she used to live.
