Prince William and younger brother Prince Harry competed in the traditional Christmas Eve football match yesterday.
At Castle Rising, not far from Sandringham, the brothers arrived in grey hoodies and shorts to warm up for the match, which is an annual fixture in William and Harry’s diaries.

Jumping jacks, stretches and press up formed their thorough warm-up, William clearly keen to not repeat an injury like last year. An earlier match saw him miss the game on 24th December in 2014. He played through a slight limp at one point during the match, however.
Known to be a competitive pair, William and Harry played on the same side this year, for the local Black Horse Inn pub. Usually, they compete against one another.

In yellow and black striped shirts, the Princes played alongside a talented local 13-year-old who scored three of the four goals for their team.

The Duke of Cambridge wore his Aston Villa socks to show support for his team in front of the 200-strong crowd, who had gathered to watch the Royal duo.

Finishing 4-1 to The Black Horse Inn, the teams didn’t let the rain and strong winds deter the match, with all players sporting muddy knees and shorts by the end of the game.
William and Harry then posed for photos with the participants afterwards, giving applause to all those who took part.
The Royal Family will walk to church later this morning, before heading back to Sandringham House for a Christmas Lunch.
