The Queen invites photographer to Windsor to see her horse riding

Hardly seen since lockdown began in March, The Queen this weekend invited a photographer to Windsor Castle to snap her riding.

While we have seen Her Majesty in two video messages and a couple of official photos, the 94-year-old has not been spotted on her regular hacks through the grounds of Windsor. She has instead been using secluded areas for her horse riding.

But the palace allowed a PA photographer in to capture the Monarch with her Fell pony, Fern, who is 14 as they took exercise in Windsor Home Park.

The Queen wears cream jodhpurs, a green check jacket and burgundy leather boots. As always, she forewent a helmet for a vibrant pink headscarf, decorated with jockey jerseys. The piece is probably from Hermes.

We suspect the photos were released as a means of reassurance to the people that The Queen is well and still working, as well as mobile, in a time when she cannot be out amongst the public during this pandemic.

Elizabeth II has been riding several times each week, we are told.

Since she was a child, the Royal has enjoyed everything equine. Each June, she is a regular fixture at Royal Ascot, and breeds race horses at Sandringham.
