Princess Eugenie and Jack have introduced their son to the world and released his name: August.
The baby was born on 9th February at the Portland Hospital, weighing 8lb 1oz. He is currently 11th in the line of succession.
His full name is August Philip Hawke Brooksbank, and is The Queen’s ninth great-grandchild.
Of course, the name pays tribute to The Duke of Edinburgh, 99, who is currently in hospital on doctors’ advice after feeling unwell. The Princess also explained on her Instagram that her son is named after his great-great-great-great-great grandfathers.
The Princess said: “Our hearts are full of love for this little human, words can’t express. We are excited to be able to share these photos with you. Thank you to the wonderful essential workers including our midwife who came to discharge our boy”.
The photos were taken by the couple’s midwife during a home visit after the birth, and clearly show two new and overjoyed parents, and shared on the Princess’ Instagram page.
Buckingham Palace have said that the couple are ‘touched’ by the well wishes sent to them and were ‘delighted’ to share these new snaps of their family.
