Congratulations are in order for Princess Anne’s son, Peter Phillips, who has announced his engagement to Harriet Sperling!
In a statement issued by Gerard Franklin (Phillips’ spokesman), it stated: ‘Mr Peter Phillips, the son of HRH The Princess Royal and Captain Mark Phillips and Ms Harriet Sperling, daughter of the late Mr Rupert Sanders and Mrs Mary Sanders of Gloucestershire, have today confirmed their official engagement.’
‘Both families were informed jointly of the announcement and were delighted with the wonderful news of their engagement. Their Majesties The King and Queen, The Prince and Princess of Wales have been informed of the announcement. No date has been officially set for the wedding.’
Peter and Harriet are believed to have started dating in May 2024, having met at a sporting event. The pair made their debut at the Badminton Horse Trials. Harriet lives in Gloucestershire and works as a Paediatric Nurse Specialist for the NHS.
Peter has two daughters – Savannah and Isla – from his previous marriage to Autumn Kelly. Whilst Harriet has a daughter, Georgina, from her first marriage.
Harriet has been warmly welcomed by the Royal Family over the past year. In June she was seen laughing with The King and was seen chatting with Peter’s sister Zara and Princess Beatrice at Ascot after she travelled in the carriage procession with senior royals. The pair also recently attended the The Royal Charity Polo Cup 2025, where they watched Prince William take part in the match.
