Whilst the exact origins of the tiara are unknown, this item of jewellery came into the possession of the Princess in May 1973.

Her Royal Highness launched the tanker ‘World Unicorn’ and was presented with the Festoon Tiara from the World Wide Shipping Group.

Anne first wore it for a number of portraits taken by Lord Lichfield, which were released on her 23rd Birthday.

With an openwork frame, the Festoon Tiara is made entirely of diamonds set in platinum, arranged in a graceful festoon (swag) design. It features three main diamond swags suspended between upright diamond motifs.

In 2008, Anne loaned the tiara to her daughter-in-law Autumn for her own wedding day to Anne’s son, Peter Phillips.

The most recent appearance of the tiara was during the 2025 French State Banquet at Windsor Castle.
