The Princess of Wales is known to have some intricate items of jewellery in her collection, including an art deco diamond-set brooch.
Catherine first wore the piece for 2022’s Remembrance Sunday Service, which was her first as Princess of Wales following her father-in-law’s accession.
It was reported that the brooch cost £14,500, and was gifted to the Princess as a gift for her 40th birthday in January 2022. It has not been confirmed who gifted the brooch to Catherine, but it is widely suspected to be The King himself, who has an eye for jewellery.
The brooch was sold, however, by Bentley & Skinner.
The platinum brooch is rectangular in shape with corners cut away, with an openwork pattern. It is a classic art deco design, with its geometric shapes and openwork, being made in 1920.
Two baguette diamonds sit in the centre top and bottom, while rows of smaller stones flank a central, round brilliant-cut diamond, which weighs around 0.35 carats.
Kate has also worn the brooch for the State Banquet for the President of South Africa in November 2022 and the Diplomatic Reception this year and last.
