The Queen and Princess of Wales both carried out separate engagements with First Lady Melania Trump in Windsor on the final day of the State Visit to the UK.

The engagements come a day after President Trump and First Lady, Melania received a ceremonial welcome and State Banquet at Windsor Castle.

The morning began with an official goodbye meeting between The King and Queen and The President and First Lady at the castle, before The President departed alone for meetings with Prime Minister Kier Starmer.

He was escorted to the door, where his car was waiting for him, by The King.

Meanwhile, The Queen accompanied Mrs Trump to view the Royal Library, which is located in the north terrace of Windsor Castle.

Before that, they viewed a major piece from the Royal Collection, Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House.

A highlight of the collection, the Dolls’ House is said to be the largest in the world. Built in the 1920s, the house is a 1:12 scale designed by Edwin Lutyens and containing the work of more than 1,500 crafters and artists. The remarkable dolls house features running water and electricity.

The library of the Dolls’ House contains miniature versions of actual books, a project that Queen Camilla championed last year. Mrs Trump got to view some of the miniature books created for the house, including one by The Queen’s son, Tom Parker-Bowles.

The two women met with a group of schoolchildren who are busy writing and illustrating their own mini books for an art project before viewing treasures in the Royal Library. Those treasures included a poem and drawing from Queen Elizabeth I, and King Charles I’s annotated copy of Shakespeare’s ‘Second Folio’.

Following an outfit change, The First Lady joined The Princess of Wales for an outing with the Scouts, of which the Princess is Joint President, at Frogmore House.

The two women were joined by Chief Scout Dwayne Fields and 20 Squirrel Scouts who were trying to earn their Go Wild badges.

Catherine and Melania arrived separately and met one another away from cameras before walking to the engagement together.

They joined the group of children in drawing pictures of nature and speaking with them. One child took Mrs Trump to the table where bug hotels were being made and The First Lady joined in, telling the children that her favourite bug was a ladybug.

The two women then joined the children for a game which saw them hold a parachute as some children ran under to collect balls that had fallen under. After all the fun, the children received their badges from the Princess and First Lady.

The Princess had thoughtfully arranged packed lunches for the group, featuring sandwiches made with honey from Anmer Hall, the Wales’ family home on the Sandringham Estate. The honey had been produced by her own beehives, underlining her commitment to sustainability and family tradition.

In return, Mrs Trump presented each child with a jar of White House honey, carefully wrapped in ribboned boxes.

Before leaving, Chief Scout Dwayne Fields gifted Mrs Trump his necktie as a memento of the day. The two women then said goodbye and took their leave.

Speaking to the BBC after the visit, Chief Scout Dwayne Fields said that it was ‘a great morning for all involved, particularly for the young people involved. The setting was grand and in all fairness the two guests we had were very special.’

‘Having the Princess there, our Joint President, alongside the First Lady of the United States, is going to be something very special for them in years to come when they understand the true magnitude of what has just happened.’

He added: ‘I think it is really important to say they both strongly believe in what we do within the scouts movement and this was a great opportunity for us here, the spiritual home of the Scouts where it all began, to showcase scouting to the US.’

Mrs Trump later joined her husband at Chequers, the Prime Minister’s country grace-and-favour home. Following this, she and her husband departed England for the United States.
