Former US President, George W. Bush, has given his verdict on Prince Harry, saying he is “prince charming”, after meeting at the 2016 Invictus Games.
President Bush has been committed to helping veterans throughout his retirement, and has praised Prince Harry for his good work in the area, which culminated in the Invcitus Games, held last year in Orlando and first in London in 2014.
“Actually, he was [Prince Charming]. I wasn’t sure what to expect, he probably wasn’t sure what to expect from me either. He is a charming person and he cares deeply about the vets. I was very impressed by him.”
During last year’s games, in an interview with the TODAY show, President Bush’s daughter, Jenna, attempted to set up her sister, Barbara with Harry. Jenna said, “You know what, I have a single sister. Listen, she’s available!”
She then offered up her sister’s phone number. According to PEOPLE, Barbara was ‘humiliated’ but her sister still believes that she, “should be a princess!” President Bush said that he hopes to be involved in the upcoming 2017 Invictus Games in Toronto.
The Invictus Games were founded in 2014 by Prince Harry. The Paralympic-style events are designed for wounded warriors from all over the world. The word ‘Invictus’ means ‘unconquered’, embodying the fighting spirit of the wounded service personnel who participate in the games. The second games took place in Orlando, in 2016. 14 nations and over 485 competitors took part in ten sports. Over 800 volunteers helped make the games a success.
Former First Lady Michelle Obama, who is also a strong supporter of veterans, attended the Orlando games, and is a “big fan” of Prince Harry, also calling him ‘Prince Charming.’
During the opening ceremony Mrs Obama said, “I want to, of course, start by thanking Prince Harry for his outstanding leadership and for bringing the Invictus Games here to Orlando. He is truly our Prince Charming.”
Last year, Prince Harry asked his gran, The Queen, to help create a promotional video for the Invictus games, responding to a video where former President Obama and Mrs Obama playfully taunted the Prince, “Prince Harry, remember when you told us to ‘bring it’ at the Invictus Games?” Her Majesty responded, “Oh really? Please!”
In 2018, the games are to take place in Sydney – Prince Harry made the announcement with Australian pop star Kylie.
