On the third day of their annual visit to South West of England, The Duke and Duchess of Cornwall carried out a series of engagements in Devon, including a visit to the Donkey Sanctuary, Gregory Distribution and Big Picnic in Exmoor National Park.
Starting the day, Camilla, who is celebrating her 72nd birthday, visited the Donkey Sanctuary to celebrate the organisation’s 50th anniversary. During the visit, she met with service users who have benefited from the charity’s Donkey Facilitated Learning programme.
The organisation was founded in 1969 by Elisabeth Svendsen and since then has made a profound difference to the lives of donkeys and people all over the world.
As Camilla left the sanctuary, she met with three year old Jacob Leney, who presented Her Royal Highness with a posy.

Meanwhile, The Duke of Cornwall was visiting the Gregory Distribution’s plant in Cullompton, to celebrate the company’s 100th anniversary. Founded in the South West in 1919, the company is one of the largest privately owned transport companies in the UK.
During the visit, Prince Charles was very interested in the private delivery services’ collection cars. He also greeted well-wishers while sipping a cup of tea.
The future King also toured the company’s ground and got a closer look at their transport trucks, testing one of the older models’ honk and steering wheels. At the end of the visit, Prince Charles unveiled a commemorative plaque in celebration of the company’s centenary.
Later on, the royal couple attended a celebration of the 70th anniversary of the National Parks and Access to the Countryside Act at a Big Picnic in Exmoor National Park.
Designated as a National Park in 1954, its purposes are to conserve and enhance the natural beauty, wildlife and cultural heritage of the National Parks and to promote opportunities for the understanding and enjoyment of the special qualities of the Parks by the public.
There, Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla took part in the celebration in honour of the 15 UK’s National Parks. The Duchess was also presented with a beautiful elaborated cake inspired by the most beautiful scenery of the United Kingdom and appreciated a slice after the Prince aptly cut the carefully crafted cake.
