Dame Mary Berry is celebrating her 90th birthday, and The Prince of Wales is among those marking the milestone by sending a special message to a ‘true national treasure’.
Prince William’s message is part of a special pre-recorded episode of BBC One’s The One Show, which will celebrate her celebrate her remarkable life and career. The programme will also feature guests including The Traitors presenter Claudia Winkleman, as well as former The Great British Bake Off presenters Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins.
In his message, the Prince tells Dame Mary: ‘Hi Mary. I want to wish you a very happy 90th birthday. You are a true national treasure and we’ve loved working with you over the years.’
He adds: ‘Have a fantastic day today. I dread to think who’s cooking your cake and the criticism they might get but good luck and I hope it goes really well’.

Prince William and renowned British baker Mary Berry have collaborated on several occasions, notably in the BBC One special, ‘A Berry Royal Christmas‘
in 2019. The festive program, the then-Duke and Duchess of Cambridge joined the baker to prepare a Christmas feast honouring volunteers and charity workers. The one-off show highlighted William and Catherine’s charitable work, including visits to organisations such as The Passage and Action on Addiction.

His Royal Highness and Mary Berry have interacted on other occasions, including in March 2013, during a visit to Child Bereavement UK, where Prince William serves as Royal Patron. During this encounter, William humorously remarked to Berry, ‘my wife is a big fan of yours and my tummy’s a big fan’.
