In a personal message released on Kensington Palace social media channels, The Princess of Wales has announced that she has completed a course of preventative chemotherapy, much to her ‘relief’.
Kensington Palace released a three-minute video featuring Catherine, William and their three children taking walks and playing games in Norfolk, both by the coast and at their country residence, Anmer.
The news of Catherine’s surgery – which eventually led to her diagnosis revealed in March – came just days after The King publicly announced his own back in January.
Opening her message, she stated that ‘the last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family. Life as you know it can change in an instant and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown’.
The Princess spoke about her cancer journey, describing it as ‘complex, scary and unpredictable for everyone’ and it brings you ‘face to face with your own vulnerabilities in a way you have never considered before, and with that, a new perspective on everything’ but it makes people reflect and ‘be grateful for the simple yet important things in life’.
Catherine said her journey isn’t over yet and her ‘path to healing and full recovery is long’ and she must take each day as it comes but is ‘looking forward to being back at work and undertaking a few more public engagements in the coming months’.
It has been reported by The Sunday Times that The Princess of Wales could join other members of the Royal Family at the annual Remembrance Service in November.
Her parents, Michael and Carole Middleton also feature, playing cards at the dining table, as well as the family dog, a black cocker spaniel.
‘Despite all that has gone before I enter this new phase of recovery with a renewed sense of hope and appreciation of life. William and I are so grateful for the support we have received and have drawn great strength from all those who are helping us at this time. Everyone’s kindness, empathy and compassion has been truly humbling.’
Closing her message, the Princess shared a message to all those on their own cancer journey and stresses that she is with them ‘side by side, hand in hand. Out of darkness, can come light, so let that light shine bright’.
The video was shared with the following post:
