ITV’s documentary about Diana, Princess of Wales, will air later this month, focussed on contributions from Prince William and Prince Harry on their mother’s life, and their relationship with her.
‘Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy’ will celebrate the life and work of Diana, also marking 20 years since her tragic death in Paris, by her sons, William and Harry.
The show’s executive producer, Nick Kent, said: “This film will show Princess Diana in a way she has never been seen before, through the eyes of the two people who knew her best.”
The Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry speak openly about their childhood spent with their mother, her personality and what they have learnt from her.
The brother’s have said they felt that this anniversary was a good time to honour her, and though the loss is still ‘raw’ it was a ‘healing process’ to do the programme.
Harry, who was just 12 at the time of her death, said: “She was our mum. She still is our mum. And of course, as a son I would say this, she was the best mum in the world. She smothered us with love, that’s for sure.”
The trailer – which you can see below – shows the brothers looking at family photos featuring their mother, including a candid shot of Diana holding William as a toddler, whilst pregnant with Harry. “This is the first time that the two of us have ever spoken about her as a mother,” notes Prince Harry.

A clip of William says: “She was very informal and really enjoyed the laughter and the fun,” while his brother calls her ‘one of the naughtiest parents’.
The trailer will begin to be shown on TV from tonight, airing 24th July at 9pm.

‘Diana, our mother: her life and legacy’….Will this documentary air in the US?
Hi JoAnn; we’re not sure. ITV pieces sometimes end up on BBC America. We’ll update you if we find out
Victoria
We Americans are sponges for anything that has to do with the royal family…we respect and admire them and never want the traditions to end. And we most certainly hope we will be able to see this documentary when it indeed comes out.
My heart still breaks for William and Harry. No child should ever have to lose a parent,a wonderful one, as Diana was.My heart and thoughts will always be with them.
When will it be shown in the states?
Best really memories.
