The itinerary for The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s visits to Poland and Germany have been announced – also with the news that Prince George and Princess Charlotte will join them!

William and Kate are due to undertake a five-day tour from 17th-21st July.
The couple will begin in Warsaw, where they will visit the Warsaw (Up)rising Museum. In Gdansk the following day, the Duke and Duchess will meet the founders of the Solidarity movement, which helped topple the Soviet-block government, visit the Stutthoff concentration camp and Shakespeare Theatre.

Berlin, Heidelberg and Hamburg are the stops in Germany, and will include a private meeting with Angela Merkel, a tour of the capital’s Holocaust Museum, a stop at the President’s home, Schloss Bellvue, visiting the Elbphilharmonie Concert hall and competing in a boat race: Heidelberg vs Cambridge! The two cities are twinned.
George and Charlotte will be looked after by their nanny, Maria, and stay at Belvedere Palace in Warsaw for the first part of the trip, then at the British Ambassador’s residence for the German-leg. They are expected to be seen for arrivals and departures, with no scheduled children-friendly engagements.
Prince George and Princess Charlotte may not be able to go on many future tours – unless they align with school holidays.

A Kensington Palace spokesperson said of the children’s addition: “They have decided that their children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, will travel with them and we expect the children to be seen in at least a couple of occasions over the course of the week.”

Both children went on their parents’ eight-day visit to Canada last year. This is likely to be George’s last tour for a while, as he begins primary school in September, while Princess Charlotte will begin nursery in London. Then, the Royals will only be able to travel as a family in school holidays.
Their official entourage will include 12 people: adviser Sir David Manning, private secretaries Miguel Head and Rebecca Priestley (nee Deacon), communications team made of four people, an equerry, tour secretary, two logistics officers and a personal assistant. Privately employed for the occasion will be the nanny and hairdresser.
