Evening at the BAFTAs for Will & Kate – plus Paris trip announced

Last night, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge spent the evening at the BAFTA Awards, to recognise the achievements of the people in the film and TV industry. It was also announced this morning that William and Catherine are to visit Paris in March.

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts is an independent charity that supports, develops and promotes the art forms of the moving image by identifying and rewarding excellence. The annual awards feature the distinctive mask statuette.

As President of the academy, Prince William and Kate attended the black-tie evening. They were accompanied down the red carpet by BAFTA CEO, Amanda Berry, before meeting some of the stars of the evening, and heading into the auditorium at the Royal Albert Hall.

Their arrival drew cheers and applause from not only the crowds outside, but the celebrities inside.

It was the Duke’s job to handout the Fellowship award for the evening, to Mel Brookes. He has been president since 2010.
