A documentary to be aired later this month features The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry as they prepare for the ‘mental health marathon’ in London for Heads Together.
‘Mind Over Marathon’ will be presented by Nick Knowles staring special Royal guests. The show documents the story of ten people affected by mental health issues as they train to run the London Marathon 2017.
It was filmed back in January, as the three checked-in with Heads Together marathon runners, before racing one another.
William, Catherine and Harry are involved with this year’s marathon as they spearheaded Heads Together, a campaign coordinated by The Royal Foundation. With this project the Royals hope to end the stigma of mental health in society – people with mental issues should feel comfortable with their everyday mental wellbeing and feel able to support their friends and families through past and present difficult times.
The trio also want to have amateur athletes hit the streets of London on 23rd April in support of the cause, running the 26.2 miles of the capital’s marathon. All 39,000 runners will receive a special headband as the race’s 2017 charity.

The charity brings together numerous national organisations in the field of mental health. These are:
- Best Beginnings
- CALM – The Campaign Against Living Miserably)
- Contact (a military mental health coalition)
- Mind
- Place2Be
- The Mix
- YoungMinds
- The Anna Freud Centre
The Duke, Duchess and Prince will be at the finish line on the day, cheering on the runners, but in the run up to the event, William is to attend a screening of the documentary, Harry will attend the London Marathon Expo, Catherine will host runners from team at Kensington Palace. Finally, the trio will open the Global Academy, a new, unique state school teaching 14 – 19 year olds the practical skills necessary to succeed in the media industry, in a fortnight.
This week, Heads Together released a series of short films, #oktosay. In each video, life-changing stories are told, as people open up to a friend about their own situation, to encourage more people to start discussions around emotional well-being.

Well done Harry
I work with mental health people and what they are doing is fantastic as it makes more people aware of the struggle people have and it’s not such a stigma
Appreciate the work done by the young Royals to support mental health.
