To mark the famous show’s 30th anniversary, Prince George is to make an ‘appearance’ in an episode of Fireman Sam creators have revealed.
Prince George, 4, has been used as the inspiration for a royal character written into a one-off special entitled ‘The Prince in Pontypandy’.

The Prince will be going to the fictional Welsh town, in which Fireman Sam lives and works, as part of a royal visit to the area during series 11. But, when disaster strikes, the Prince uses a helicopter to save the day.

George, who started primary school in September, is not named in the episode, but producers have confirmed the character is a direct nod to The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s eldest child, and future King.

The young Royal must be delighted – he is a fan of the programme, which first broadcast in 1987. His mother, Catherine, purchased a book on the cartoon character during a visit to a charity shop in 2016.
The episode will air on Cartoonito and Channel 5’s Milkshake in early 2018, with other territories being able to view it shortly after.
Fireman Sam took to the small screen in 1987, after two ex-firefighters from Kent, Dave Gingell and David Jones, purchased the cartoon drawn by artist Anthony Miller and has been popular ever since.
