On Sunday, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended the Wimbledon Mens’s Singles Final to watch Novak Djokovic vs. Nick Kyrgios. Prince George also attended the event, marking the appearance his first ever time at the tennis tournament.
The family arrived separately, with William already at the venue waiting for Catherine and his eldest son.
The family met the stewards at the event, where the Duchess explained to George the important role they play. “They look after everybody to make sure the crowds are safe and happy, doing the right thing, in the right seats, making sure the grounds are safe.”
When asked where Charlotte was, Catherine replied: “It’s George’s treat today.”
George was also asked who he wanted to win today and appeared too shy to answer. Whispering to George, William said: “Djokovic.” The duke jokingly added: “We’ll see how long it lasts. He’ll support the winner.”
The young Prince was dressed smartly in a navy blazer with a white shirt and a striped tie.
George was seen displaying a range of emotions as he watched the tense match, much to the delight of royal fans. His parents could be seen explaining the game and key details.

As Patron of the All England Lawn Tennis Club, The Duchess of Cambridge presented the winner’s trophy to Djokovic. Catherine became Patron in 2016, taking over the role from The Queen, and also wore her members ribbon.
After Djokovic beat Kyrgios, Prince George joined his parents backstage to meet the tennis champion.
The eight-year-old prince gave Djokovic the thumbs-up before he was allowed to hold the trophy. George commented, “It’s a bit heavy’ before giving it back to his mother.”
“Don’t drop it!” ?

Kate is a fan of the sport and Wimbledon. She’s only missed Wimbledon twice since marrying Prince William in 2011. The first time she missed was it in 2013 when she was heavily pregnant with Prince George. The second time was in 2020, when the tournament was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
George has also had tennis lessons from Roger Federer, after the tennis star confirmed that he had been to the home of The Duchess of Cambridge’s parents to meet the young prince. Federer attended Pippa and James Matthews’ wedding in 2017, and is a friend of the family.
