Prince William and Prince Harry attended the premiere of the new Star Wars film ‘The Last Jedi’ this evening, at the Royal Albert Hall.
The royal brothers, who apparently have cameo roles as stormtroopers in the latest instalment of the Star Wars film franchise, joined stars of the film, celebrities, and survivors of the Grenfell Towers fire tragedy, at the London screening.
Lining the red carpet was a guard of honour made up of stormtroopers. They were also greeted by one of the mechanical members of the cast: BB-8. The Queen’s grandsons were much amused at the little robot rolling over to them before they headed inside.

We now know William and Harry are on very familiar terms with the stormtroopers: one of the film’s stars Jogn Boyega, who plays Fin, recently revealed that when the Princes visited the set during production at Pinewood studios in April 2016, they both donned the infamous white armour and helmets and took part in one of the scenes.

During the royal line up this evening The Duke of Cambridge was seen wagging his finger at Boyega, who was laughing hard as the Royal jokingly rebuked him at the revelation.

The premiere was hosted in aid of The Royal Foundation – the charitable vehicle of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry – with more than 400 young people, military veterans and volunteers who have taken part in the charity’s programmes also attending the event. Coach Core, Full Effect, and military programmes such as the Endeavour Fund were represented.
Newly-engaged Harry was reunited with two people he met recently in Nottingham – where he and fiancee Meghan Markle performed their first public engagement together. He congratulated hip hop performer and actor Leo Wright on his act at Nottingham Academy. “It was great,” said Harry.

On greeting young artistic photographer, Jamal Sterrett, Harry quipped: “You’re all dressed up for the occasion. I love that,” he said with a smile.
Prince William has admitted that he is a complete Star Wars geek, and the royal pair looked delighted as they were reunited this evening with actor Mark Hamill, who plays Luke Skywalker in the series.
This is is the eighth film in the Star Wars saga, and the last where Carrie Fisher will appear as Princess Leia – the actress died in December 2016 aged 60, shortly after completing her final scenes.
At the end of the line-up having met the cast, the two Princes were each given a stormtrooper helmet of their own by Lily Chambers, 12, and Eloisa Lerner, eight, whose fathers are both executives at Disney.
“Wow,” said William. “Should I put this on?”
“Should I wear this to watch the film?” Harry joked to them.
