It has been announced that Princess Anne has been in hospital to be treated for a severe chest infection, after complaints of feeling unwell.
The Princess Royal, 66, has been staying at Balmoral with The Queen and was due to get back to work next week, but now, planned engagements for next week have been cancelled on doctor’s advice.
The announcement comes after the Royal was treated at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. This is very unlike the Princess, who is often noted as one of the most hardworking members of the British Royal Family, and is very committed to her duties.
A visit to HMP Grampian in Peterhead was cancelled yesterday, and Anne was due to visit HM Prison Full Sutton, York and Strathcarron Hospice in Stirlingshire on Wednesday. These will likely now be scheduled for later in the year to make up for the Princess missing the engagements.
It was on Wednesday that Anne went to the hospital for some tests. A Buckingham Palace spokesman said: “She was in hospital very briefly on Wednesday but did not stay over night.”
“On doctors’ orders she has cancelled her engagements for the coming week. She is resting privately at home.”
Princess Anne was seen just last week enjoying the Braemar Gathering with her parents, The Queen and Prince Philip, and brother, Prince Charles.
