Driven from Kensington Palace by their father, The Duke of Cambridge left his wife’s side just after 4pm to fetch his two older children. Prince George had spent the day at school in Battersea, and turned up in his uniform.
William got them both out of the back seat of the Range Rover before walking them into the hospital unit, holding hands.
Princess Charlotte was a little braver than her elder brother, and gave a couple of waves to the press on her father’s instruction. The 2-year-old, who is three in just two weeks, seemed more confident than George.
Baby Cambridge was born at 11.01am today, weighing 8lb 7oz, and both Kate and the Prince are doing well. We expect to see the Duchess and the newborn in under an hour.
Updates as we get them.
