Princess Eugenie and husband Jack were seen leaving the Portland Hospital earlier today alongside their newborn son after the Princess gave birth on Tuesday.
The first-time mother sat in the back of the car next to her son, whilst husband Jack was behind the wheel. A name for the royal baby is set to be announced soon.
The new Royal was born at the same hospital where Eugenie herself came into the world in 1990.
Princess Eugenie’s son has automatically took position as 11th in line to the throne upon his birth, replacing The Earl of Wessex in that position and pushing everyone else down a place further.
A tweet from the @RoyalFamily account announced the news on Tuesday: “Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie was safely delivered of a son today, 9th February 2021, at 0855hrs at The Portland Hospital. Jack Brooksbank was present. The baby weighs 8lbs 1oz.”
The Princess, who turns 31 next month, shared this snap on her personal Instagram page with blue hearts and exclamation marks.
The new baby will not be given a royal title because only the grandchildren of the Monarch via the male line are automatically entitled to one. Equally, he will have to lead a (relatively) normal life as a non-working Royal – even if his mother is a Princess.
A statement also said that The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, as well as the couple’s parents have been informed and ‘are delighted with the news’. This is the ninth great-grandchild for the Monarch. It is also The Duke of York and Sarah, Duchess of York’s first grandchild.
Eugenie and Jack met whilst skiing, and married at St George’s Chapel in October 2018 following a Nicaraguan engagement. The couple announced their exciting news in September.
