Taken at Windsor Castle, The Prince of Wales stands next to his mother, looking at her fondly. The Queen is sitting in a gilt chair, looking at the camera.
While not smiling as we usually see Her Majesty, it appears the two may have shared a joke just before the photo was taken.
Prince Charles wears a tuxedo and black tie, while the Sovereign is regal in turquoise lace patterned dress. This is the same worn to the Windsor Horse Show extravaganza in June for her 90th birthday.
