After watching the Women’s Final at Wimbledon, The Princess of Wales stepped into the Royal Box once again to watch Italy’s Jannik Sinner take on reigning champion Carlos Alcaraz.

For the men’s final, she was joined by her husband, Prince William, and two of their children – Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

The family’s appearance delighted the 15,000-strong crowd, many of whom stood in applause as they arrived just before the match began.

Prior to the match, the royals met with men’s doubles winners Julian Cash and Lewis Glasspool, the first all-British pair to win in 89 years. The Princess praised their performance in the sweltering 29 degree heat, remarking: “Well done… how does it feel? It was so hot.” Cash replied, “It was good, but pretty stressful,” before cheekily asking George if he was “any good at tennis,” to which the young prince responded, “I’m alright.”

They also met Ambrose Caldecott, an 11-year-old boy battling bone cancer who had the honour of performing the coin toss. Catherine, who herself has undergone cancer treatment following her own diagnosis, shared a moving exchange with Ambrose. When he replied he was “on the mend,” the Princess told him: “It’s tough. What a brave boy you’ve been.”

The match saw Jannik Sinner, 23, became the first Italian man to win Wimbledon, defeating Spain’s 22-year-old Carlos Alcaraz, who had hoped to repeat last year’s success. Despite the loss, Alcaraz was gracious in defeat, waving to the crowd and thanking his team during his post-match interview. “It was a tough match,” he said, “but Jannik played incredibly well. Congratulations to him and his team.”
