Prince William, as Patron of the Football Association, made his much-anticipated appearance at the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 final at St. Jakob‑Park in Basel on Sunday. However, all eyes weren’t just on England’s Lionesses or their Royal supporter – they were also on William’s 10-year-old daughter, Princess Charlotte, who joined him for her first-ever public appearance at an international football match.

Charlotte’s attendance came as a surprise to many royal watchers, though Kensington Palace had confirmed William’s attendance several days in advance. Known for typically bringing along his eldest son, Prince George, to high-profile footballing events, William opted instead to bring his daughter.
Stepping into the spotlight, Princess Charlotte debuted a new look, showcasing lighter blonde highlights, a noticeable change from her recent outing at Wimbledon alongside her parents and brother.
Dressed elegantly and smiling with pride, Charlotte cheered on the Lionesses with her father, stealing hearts as cameras captured the duo’s reactions from the stands.
Prince William and Princess Charlotte were joined by Spain’s heir to the throne, Princess Leonor, and her sister Infanta Sofía, who were seen supporting the Spanish team from the stands.

In a nail-biting final, the Lionesses triumphed securing a historic victory over Spain after the match went to penalties, after the match ended 1-1 after extra time.
The Lionesses defended their European title and made history becoming the first English team to win major tournament on foreign soil.
Prince William’s support for the Lionesses this tournament has been unwavering. Earlier in the competition, the Prince of Wales visited England’s training camp at St. George’s Park, offering encouragement and praise before the team departed for Switzerland. He also attended England’s group-stage victory over the Netherlands in Zurich on 9th July.
In a personal capacity, William is an Aston Villa supporter, and has been seen at many matches over the years. In more recent times, he has begun taking his children to see his team at various stadiums, including games near Sandringham.

Following the match, The King also released a special message for the team saying: ‘This brings you, your manager and all your support team my most heartfelt congratulations on winning the EUROS 2025.
For more years than I care to remember, England fans have sung that famous chant ‘football’s coming home’. As you return home with the trophy you won at Wembley three years ago, it is a source of great pride that, through sporting skill and awesome teamwork, the Lionesses have made those words ring true. For this, you have my whole family’s warmest appreciation and admiration.
More than that, though, you have shown through your example over past weeks that there are no setbacks so tough that defeat cannot be transformed into victory, even as the final whistle looms.
Well done, Lionesses. The next task is to bring home the World Cup in 2027 if you possibly can!’
