William and Kate, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, will be travelling to Canada later this year for their second Royal visit to the Commonwealth nation.
The Royal couple accepted the Canadian Government’s invitation to undertake a Royal Tour in the autumn, Kensington Palace announced.
Tweets said that William and Kate had ‘very happy memories’ of the country from their last visit in 2011. The tour was the couple’s first overseas visit as a married couple, beginning in late June.
“They are really looking forward to seeing other parts of this beautiful country and having the opportunity to meet many more Canadians along the way,” a statement from the Palace explained.
It is thought that plans are being considered to take their children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, with them, just like the 2014 tour of Australia and New Zealand, when George made his first public appearances since his birth.
A statement on the Governor General’s website said: “Once again, Sharon and I will be delighted to welcome TRHs The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to Canada. Their Royal Tour will take them to the beautiful province of British Columbia and the scenic territory of Yukon. Our true Canadian pride and spirit will shine and be at the very heart of this visit so they can feel at home.”
On the first visit, the Duke and Duchess were seen in Ottawa, Montréal, Québec, Charlottetown, Summerside, Yellowknife, Slave Lake and Calgary.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was equally as happy with the news of a Royal visit: “We are delighted by the Governor General’s announcement that TRHs, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, will visit Canada this fall. During their stay, the Duke and Duchess will travel to British Columbia and Yukon on a visit that will showcase some of Canada’s finest natural beauty,” his statement reads.
“This Royal Tour, the second undertaken by TRHs to Canada, also presents a unique opportunity for Canadians of all backgrounds to meet with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and learn more about our heritage, traditions, and institutions.”
More details will follow closer to the time.
