On behalf of The Queen, Buckingham Palace have issued a statement following the allegations of racism in response to The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s interview with Oprah Winfrey.
“The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan.
“The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning. Whilst some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately.
“Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much loved family members.”
The statement comes after The Duchess of Sussex claimed one member of the Royal Family had several conversations around the topic of their child’s skin and ‘what that would mean or look like’.
The couple had refused to name who made the comments, but reassured Oprah it wasn’t The Queen nor The Duke of Edinburgh, who is currently in hospital.
The interview took place after the couple decided to step back as senior Royals last year and confirmed earlier this year, they won’t be returning as working Royals. The comments made by the Duchess have caused speculation regarding who made the comments.
