consort of King George V, was known for her deep love of jewellery and her talent for curating and customising her collection. She often commissioned convertible pieces that could be adapted for various events and ensembles. Queen Mary’s Diamond Choker Bracelet is a brilliant example of her taste for innovation and an impressive piece in her collection, which have been worn by a number of royal women over the decades.
Designed as a choker necklace that could also be worn as a bracelet, this jewel is crafted from brilliant-cut diamonds set in platinum — a metal that had just begun to gain popularity in fine jewellery at the time.
The bracelet consists of three articulated diamond panels flanked by two narrower, matching segments, forming a flexible yet substantial band of light.
