Yesterday saw Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, attend the ICAP charity day at their brokerage offices in the City of London to Medical Detection Dogs, of which she is patron.

Camilla, wearing a vivid green skirt suit, was invited to execute several stock and share trades on ICAP’s sophisticated computer system. On one of the phone trades that the Duchess executed, £22,000 was raised for her charity.
She also stopped off at the Euro Swap Desk and earned a £1,000 commission alongside BBC Dragon Deborah Meaden and ICAP director Jonathan Gravestock, and another trade with singer Tulisa.

Her visit comes the day after she attended The Queen’s annual diplomatic corps reception at Buckingham Palace, wearing The Queen Mother’s honeycomb tiara.
For one day each year, ICAP brokers donate the day’s commissions and earnings to a select group of charities. Now in its 25th year, the charity day has raised over £135 million since starting, and has donated to more that 2,200 charities worldwide. It attracts the attention of celebrities from across the UK, plus a few Royals.
In 2015, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge became brokers for the day, sealing a €500 million deal, and a similar day run by BCG was attended by Sophie, Countess of Wessex and Sarah, Duchess of York earlier this year.
This year one of the chosen charities being supported is Medical Detection Dogs; the organisation funds the training of dogs which can smell various cancers and diseases, and warn owners of impending medical attacks.

The Royal posed for a photo with four men dressed as President Donald Trump; the Duchess told her aides, “Sorry, I can’t resist!”
She then asked the men why they chose to dress as the President, and one of them, Tom Barry, told her: “Why not? He’s the man of the hour.”

Camilla also met traders dressed as Native Americans, Giant Pandas, Lego figures, and cowboys on inflatable horses. It is tradition that the staff dress up for the event.
Before she left, the Duchess met some of the detection dogs with their handler. The dogs are trained to smell cancers, malaria, Parkinson’s Disease, epilepsy and severe allergies.
Medical Detection Dogs is just one of many health charities of which the Duchess is patron. Other causes she supports include osteoporosis, staying active in old age, arthritis, and life-limiting conditions in children, as well as encouraging literacy and supporting the homeless.
