The Royal Mint has unveiled a new commemorative coin to mark Princess Anne’s 75th Birthday, making it the first time Her Royal Highness has been honoured on an official UK coin.
The coin can be purchased here.
However, this isn’t the first time The Royal Mint has released a special coin to mark the royals milestone birthdays, having released coins to mark Elizabeth II’s 95th birthday, Charles III’s 70th and 75th birthdays as well as The Prince of Wales’s 40th birthday.
The design of the coin has been personally approved by The Princess, with its creation steaming from renowned coin designer Thomas T. Docherty.

It features a portrait of Princess Anne, which has been based on an official portrait of The Princess Royal taken by John Swannell. The portrait shows Anne wearing the Aquamarine Pineflower Tiara, which was created by Cartier.
Framed in an inscription stating “The Princess Royal – Celebrating 75 Years – Duty and Devotion”, it marks Anne’s dedication to service to the Crown.
Additionally, the coin features a depiction of The Princess Royal’s official Coat of Arms.

Reflecting on the upcoming release, Rebecca Morgan, Director of Commemorative Coin at The Royal Mint, said: “For the first time in British numismatic history, we are honoured to celebrate The Princess Royal on an official UK coin. Her Royal Highness’s unwavering commitment to public service, charitable work, and support of His Majesty’s Armed Forces over seven and a half decades makes her truly deserving of this tribute. The graceful design by Thomas Docherty perfectly captures both her dignified presence and extraordinary legacy while also celebrating The Princess Royal’s 75th birthday.”
Rather than choosing a grand celebration for her 75th birthday, The Princess Royal marked the occasion earlier this year in a way that reflects her lifelong dedication to service – by holding a Charities Forum at Buckingham Palace for her charities, where she welcomed nearly 200 representatives from more than 100 of the 300 organisations she supports to the Palace.
