Kensington Palace has released a new photograph of Prince George to mark his 12th birthday.
The picture was taken earlier this year in Norfolk, and shows the future King smiling and leaning on a wooden gate. George wears a checked shirt and green gilet, with a cotton cotton bracelet.

The image, posted to Kensington Palace’s social media channels, was accompanied by the message: ‘Happy 12th Birthday to Prince George!’ with a cake emoji.
In previous years, The Princess of Wales has taken the birthday portraits of her children. However, this trend was broken in 2023 with Prince Louis’ picture, when Millie Pilkington was tasked capturing the young Prince. The snap follows this trend, with George’s newest photo being taken by Josh Shinner.
George was born at the Lindo Wing on 22nd July 2013 at 4:24pm, making his first public appearance the following day.

Over the years, royal watchers have seen him grow in confidence as he has stepped out to join his parents and family at royal engagements. More recently, George accompanied his parents and The King and Queen at a Buckingham Palace tea party honouring veterans and members of the World War II generation.
He also had a starring role in the Coronation when he acted as one of The King’s Pages of Honour.
