Today is Prince George’s 2nd birthday.
Yes, the 3rd-in-line is already two! We can’t believe it either, but to help remind you of the time that flew by, The Crown Chronicles has compiled a gallery of sorts for you to browse – George’s life in pictures so far.
His birth: 22nd July 2013, at 4:24pm. The unnamed Prince of Cambridge weighed 8lb 6oz and was proudly presented to the world at around 7:15pm.
His father declared his firstborn had more hair than he did, looked like his mother, and had a good pair of lungs on him to journalists.
The newborn was then whisked off home to Kensington Palace for his first night in the world.
The birth was announced in the traditional fashion, with an easel at Buckingham Palace – but not before the Palace released the information electronically!
The next time we saw Prince George (he was named the day after his birth) was at his christening, which was held at St James’s Chapel. The young Prince was reportedly vocal throughout the ceremony, though remained calm outside in front of the cameras!
It took six months for the Prince to make an official appearance, and it wasn’t even in the UK! Landing at Wellington airport with his parents, George began his first ever tour, and became renowned for the unamused faces he pulled.
Throughout the tour, we saw him grimace at guests, turn his nose up at dignitaries, and made sure the attention was focused on him. He clearly enjoyed himself at his Plunkett play-date, with the toys and other children, even taking a step or two, supported by mum, Catherine.
Before the plane journey over to Australia, the Prince was still unimpressed.
Having to deal with guests, George wasn’t happy…
Though he was more than enthralled with a large, cuddly wombat gifted to him!
For George’s first official engagement (opening the Bilby enclosure at Taronga Zoo), he appeared more excited. William warned if George got hold of the Bilby, he wouldn’t let go!
The Prince however rather liked this young chap!
But seemed distracted as the Cambridges left Australia…
Polo was the Prince’s next appearance… getting to grips with a sport he will no doubt play when he’s older.
That Christmas, William and Catherine released a few photos as a thank you for allowing George a relatively private year. Ahhh!
And these were published for George’s first birthday, taken at the Sensation Butterflies exhibition, Natural History Museum.
It was then a loooooooong time before George appeared to the public again. He visited his newborn sister in hospital with his father on 2nd May. Hadn’t he grown!
The next time we saw George was cradling his sister, Princess Charlotte, in family photos taken by The Duchess of Cambridge. Didn’t he look like a proud big brother!
George made his first appearance at Trooping the Colour this year! He wore the same outfit his father did in the 1980s for his Trooping appearance.
The christening was next on George’s list, and he seemed to enjoy himself, but wasn’t too happy when he thought he was leaving the rest of the family behind!
These were the official christening images released for Princess Charlotte’s christening. We loved them!
Yesterday, Kensington Palace released this image to celebrate George’s second birthday – happy birthday George!
