The Duchess of Cambridge has sent a message of thanks and appreciation to commemorate the end of her Nursing Now campaign.
The Duchess of Cambridge started by highlighting the incredible work Nursing Now has carried out over the last three years since the campaign was launched in 2018.
“Although we cannot be together in person at this closing of the nursing now campaign, I wanted to say a huge congratulations for the incredible work that you’ve done over the last three years.”

“When Nursing Now was launched in 2018, we had no way of knowing just how much the work, dedication and infinite care of nurses would be tested, needed and appreciated,” the Duchess said. “COVID-19 has highlighted the vital role that nurses provide, which we all rely on and it’s made all the more extraordinary when we consider the huge sacrifices and personal demands that have been placed on all of you by the pandemic.”
Catherine continued: “It has been the hardest of years and my heartfelt thanks to you and your colleagues around the world for the incredible work you do every day. This short film shows some of the amazing work that nursing now has been doing over the last three years to develop the confidence, training and leadership potential of over 30,000 nurses and midwives worldwide.”
The Duchess of Cambridge, who’s a patron of the Nursing Now project, has praised the efforts of nurses around the world, saying that COVID-19 has highlighted their ‘vital role’.

The Duchess noted how she ‘had the pleasure of interviewing Harriet‘, a midwife in Uganda who is the founder and director of midwife-led Community Transformation. Catherine commented on Harriet’s ‘passion, vision and dedication to the community she cares for is both humbling and inspiring.’ The interview took place to mark International Day of the Midwife 2021.
Catherine concluded the video message by wishing all nurses and midwifes ‘all the very best’ for their ‘future work.’

In 2020 was the International Year of the Nurse and Midwife, The Duchess of Cambridge described the nursing and midwifery profession as ‘humbling work’ that she wanted to recognise and celebrate, as they strive to ‘improve the lives of others’.
She noted how nurses and midwives are ‘there for women at their most vulnerable’, they ‘witness strength, pain and unimaginable joy on a daily basis.’
The Duchess of Cambridge write that their work to support parents is ‘crucial’ to help build their confidence, which has ‘lifelong impact on the future happiness of their children’.
