The King and Queen have shared a message of thanks for their Coronation yesterday.
Charles and Camilla said they were ‘deeply touched’ by the celebrations that marked their crowning.
The Coronation was a historic moment in Britain’s history, as the first Monarch was crowned in 70 years since the Coronation of Elizabeth II in 1953.
In a statement, Buckingham Palace said: ‘Their Majesties were deeply touched by the events of yesterday and profoundly grateful both to all those who helped to make it such a glorious occasion – and to the very many who turned out to show their support in such numbers in London and further afield.’
The coronation saw representatives from the UK and Commonwealth, famous individuals and members of both The King and Queen’s families attend a Service at Westminster Abbey, where Charles was crowned with St Edward’s Crown and Camilla with Queen Mary’s Crown.
The procession became the biggest military operation of its kind in over 70 years. Once the procession had arrived back at Buckingham Palace, Their Majesties received a royal salute in the Palace Gardens from those on parade, including The Princess Royal who was Gold Stick in Waiting.
