Less than a week since The King’s cancer diagnosis, Charles has issued a message of thanks to the nation for their support.
King Charles opened his message by stating that ‘as all those who have been affected by cancer will know, such kind thoughts are the greatest comfort and encouragement’.
With His Majesty going public with his diagnosis, there has been an increase in traffic to NHS websites and charities supporting cancer-patients.
This is reflected in his message noting how it is ‘equally heartening’ on how his diagnosis has ‘helped promote public understanding and shine a light on the work of all those organisations which support cancer patients and their families across the UK and wider world’.
He concludes his message by saying his ‘lifelong admiration’ for these organisations’ ‘tireless care and dedication is all the greater as a result of my own personal experience’.
Buckingham Palace confirmed His Majesty had been diagnosed with cancer following treatment for a benign prostate enlargement, where ‘subsequent diagnostic tests’ were carried out.
The King is currently on a ‘a schedule of regular treatments, during which time he has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties’ but will ‘continue to undertake State business and official paperwork as usual’.
Charles will reportedly be spending time between Sandringham and Highgrove – both of which are fairly out of the spotlight despite being open to public throughout the year.
