The Queen's Platinum Jubilee medal is revealed • The Crown Chronicles

The medal to mark The Queen's Platinum Jubilee has been revealed.

Designed by Timothy Noad of the College of Arms, the medal features the iconic Ian Rank Broadley portrait of Her Majesty, and on the reverse, the Royal Crest and the years of The Queen's Reign (1952-2022).

The medal itself is made from nickel silver and around 400,000 will be made by Worcestershire Medal Service, based in Birmingham.

Those who will receive the medal for The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, to show the Monarch's gratitude for their public service, include:

• Serving members of the Armed Forces that have completed five full calendar years of service on 6 February 2022. • Frontline emergency services personnel, who have been in paid service, retained or in a voluntary capacity, dealing with emergencies as part of their conditions of service, and have completed five full calendar years of service on 6 February 2022. • Prison services personnel, who are publicly employed and are regularly exposed to difficult and sometimes emergency situations, and who have completed five full calendar years of service on 6 February 2022. • Members of the Royal Household with one year of qualifying service. • Living individual recipients of the George Cross. • Living individual recipients of the Victoria Cross. [themoneytizer id="17342-16"] Medals have been awarded to mark royal jubilees since Queen Victoria's reign, when her 50th anniversary of ruling was commemorated in 1887 with a medal. Members of the Royal Family are also often gifted them, and it is expected that this will continue, including non-working Royals like Peter Philips and Princess Beatrice, as a personal gesture from Her Majesty. From the troops who serve overseas to the emergency services workers at home who run towards danger when others would flee, we are honoured to have such dedicated and professional public servants who keep us safe." [themoneytizer id="17342-28"] 2022 will be a year of celebrations to mark Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with a four-day Bank Holiday weekend from 2nd to 5th June. Celebration across the special weekend will include Trooping the Colour, the lighting of beacons, a Service of Thanksgiving, Platinum Pageant and a concert making The Queen’s historic reign.
