Continuing our look at The Queen’s brooches, this is a small brooch featuring a pink stone with a diamond setting, surrounded by large diamonds, and smaller ones between on the outer edge. The pink stone brooch’s maker remains unidentified.
From Her Majesty’s Jewel Vault suspects the stone is a sapphire, though it is not known for certain.
UPDATE: when The Queen was joined by The Duchess of Cambridge for an engagement at King’s College London in March 2019, the palace released information of Her Majesty’s outfit and the brooch, which was described as a pink sapphire brooch with diamond surround.
It is a simple piece, easily accessorised on any pink or white toned outfit, so it is a little surprising we do not see Her Majesty in it more often – pink looks fabulous on her!

The brooch was, however, chosen to appear on the front of Angela Kelly’s ‘Dressing The Queen’, in honour of the Diamond Jubilee.
