The Duchess of Cambridge visited Evelina London Sunshine House to meet the Southwark Family Nurse Partnership yesterday. The previously-unannounced visit was part of Catherine’s research and engagement with the Early Years sector.
The Southwark centre is operated by Evelina London Children’s Hospital, of which The Duchess of Cambridge became Patron of in December 2018.
The Family Nurse Partnership is a voluntary home visiting programme for first time parents aged 24 and under. The organisation operates in 70 areas across England, pairing up often disadvantaged parents with nurses who visit them regularly from early pregnancy until the first child is aged two.

After chatting with Catherine, new mum Chloe Koroma said, “She said children grow up so quickly and she can’t believe that George is six already.”
Chloe also praised the Family Nurse Partnership, saying, “My nurse, Debbie, was a fantastic support throughout my pregnancy. She was always there for me to make sure I was feeling OK. I no longer use the service but I am still in touch with Debbie as she was such a big part of my life.”
Kate’s last visit to Evelina was back in December, with husband The Duke of Cambridge.
The Duchess of Cambridge has been praised in recent years for her work in the Early Years sector. She has been described by many academics and charity organisations in the field as someone who pioneers the research into early intervention and prevention for children’s mental health and well being.
