Anne’s jewellery: Gold Ribbon Brooch

A staple in HRH's collection

Princess Anne has a remarkable collection of jewellery, including a gold ribbon brooch.

First seen adorning the Princess in February 1969 during a meeting with Apollo 8 commander Colonel Frank Borman at Buckingham Palace, the gold ribbon brooch has since become a staple in her jewellery repertoire.

Crafted in the shape of a loosely knotted ribbon, the brooch is made of gold and studded with 12 diamonds.

The gold ribbon brooch’s versatility is evident in its appearances across a range of events. Princess Anne has donned it during daytime engagements, such as the ANZAC Day service in 2015.

Anne also wore her gold ribbon brooch for formal occasions as well, including her trip to Washington DC in November 2014 to open an exhibition about the Magna Carta. Notably, she also selected it for her official 70th birthday portrait in 2020.
