A man has been arrested after scaling the walls of The Queen’s London residence, Buckingham Palace, and entering the garden.
The unnamed 41-year-old man was caught in the garden of the central London Royal residence, as The Queen and Prince Philip were inside. He had managed to climb over one of the Palace’s outer walls at 8.37 pm.
Police at the Palace located the suspect seven minutes after the alarm was triggered and arrested him for trespassing on a protected site.
The man in question – who was not armed – is currently in custody. He did not make it inside the Palace itself, but the gardens.
Commander Adrian Usher, head of the Met’s Royalty and Specialist Protection, said: “I am content that our security measures worked effectively on this occasion and at no time was any individual at risk.”
