Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, Princess Beatrice’s husband, has released a tribute on his Instagram page, following his grandmother-in-law’s death.
Edo shared a number of photographs, including one from his wedding to Beatrice which shows The Queen and Prince Philip attending and smiling at the celebrations.
The Queen and Prince Philip attended the couple’s wedding in 2020, which was one of the last public engagements of the late Duke of Edinburgh.
Their wedding had originally been planned for May 2020 in the Chapel Royal of St James’s Palace, but the pandemic scuppered the plans. They chose a more intimate, private ceremony at Windsor instead.
He said the last 24 hours have been ‘incredibly hard to process’. Edo called her an ‘incredible woman’ and has left an ‘extraordinary mark’ on the world. The late Queen’s grandson-in-law noted how the 96-year-old ‘was the rock on which modern Britain was built’.
Edo said he was feeling ‘very lucky that our little ones got to spend wonderful time with her this summer’. It can be assumed the little ones Edo refers to are The Queen’s great-grandchildren, such as Edo and Beatrice’s daughter, Sienna. Sienna was born on 18th September 2021.
He might also be referring to Eugenie and Jack’s son, August as the York sisters have a close relationship.
Edo shared a number of photos apart from the one taken from his wedding, including one of The Queen driving as a young woman and another with her corgis.
He also posted another picture of a young Prince Philip and The Queen.
