The Queen’s Jewellery: HMS Ocean brooch

One of Her Majesty’s many official brooches, this piece was a gift from the Captain and Officers of HMS Ocean in 2015, when she attended its rededication.

The brooch takes the ship’s badge, which shows Oceanus rising from the waves, holding a trident, as its inspiration. View the badge here. A semi-circle of waves is enclosed by a rope, and studded with light blue sapphires, while three tridents rise from the sea.

The brooch was designed and made by Harriet Kelsall Bespoke Jewellery, and handmade from sterling silver.

The Queen was the aircraft carrier’s Lady Sponsor. However, the ship was decommissioned in 2018 and is now part of the Brazilian naval fleet.
