Earlier this afternoon, The Queen hosted the second garden party of the year at Buckingham Palace, joined by Prince Philip, Prince Charles and Camilla and Princess Eugenie.
After the royal party arrived, but before the national anthem, a minute’s silence was held in honour of the 22 victims of last night’s Manchester bombing. Her Majesty sent her condolences earlier in the day, too.
Guests, who have been invited for their positive contribution to their field or community, were able to snack on a plethora of cakes and pastries, plus Fortnum’s secret recipe garden party tea.
Lanes were formed so the Royals could spread out and mingle with as many guests as possible, the crowning glory of a Buckingham Palace garden party.
The Band of the Coldstream Guards, there to entertain guests prior to the royal arrival, struck up the James Bond theme, in tribute to the late Roger Moore, whose death was announced this afternoon at the age of 89.
