License to thrill: William, Kate, Charles & Camilla don glad rags for James Bond premiere

James Bond may have a license to kill, but the Royals have a license to thrill – and thrill they did on the red carpet tonight, at the world premiere of ‘No Time to Die’.

The film is the 25th James Bond instalment to hit the big screen, with this being the final movie for his seventh incarnation as Daniel Craig. The film was originally meant to hit our screens in April 2020 and was one of the first movies to be pushed back due to the pandemic. But it is finally getting its time in the spotlight as it hits cinemas on Thursday!

James Bond may be the man with the golden gun, but The Duke of Cambridge was the man with the golden girl on his arm tonight. The first to arrive, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were greeted by the producers of the film, who they spoke to as they awaited the arrival of The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall.

While the (golden) eyes of the fashion watchers was on Catherine’s glitzy Jenny Packham gown, worthy of any Bond Girl, Camilla was also ‘A View To Kill’ in a blue gown by Bruce Oldfield and diamond accessories – which are forever, of course!

The Duchess of Cornwall wore a brooch that hasn’t been seen for some time, and hints at the depths of the royal jewellery vault: Princess Marie Louise’s sunburst brooch, possibly gifted by Queen Victoria and last seen on the Queen Mother, as noted by Saad.

The two couples greeted one another affectionately, before they made their way up the steps of the iconic Royal Albert Hall and turned to pose for the photographers waiting below. They then made their way inside, where a line of stars were waiting to meet them ahead of the first showing of the much-anticipated film.

Daniel Craig was very much the spy who loved The Duchess of Cambridge’s outfit, telling her ‘you look jolly lovely!’ as the pair met one another and had an animated conversation together.

Craig was not the only one to be impressed by Catherine, writer Phoebe Waller-Bridge was hear to exclaim ‘wow’ when she saw the Duchess walking towards her in the line.

The foursome took their seats in the Royal Box surrounded by the stars of the movie and a host of famous faces invited to the premiere, including Harry Kane and Jason Momoa. But there was also a host of other stars joining them, a number of healthcare workers and armed forces personnel had also been invited as a ‘thank you’ for their work during the pandemic.

The night was not just a fun night out for the Royals, but a work night. Prince Charles is patron of the British Film Institute, while Prince William is President of BAFTA.
