Prince Charles tests positive for COVID – cancels Winchester engagements

The Prince of Wales has cancelled a day of engagements in Winchester today, after testing positive for COVID-19 a second time.

Prince Charles fell ill in March 2020 in the early stages of the pandemic. The Duke of Cambridge is also understood to have caught the virus shortly after his father.

A tweet today said: “This morning The Prince of Wales has tested positive for COVID-19 and is now self-isolating.

“HRH is deeply disappointed not to be able to attend today’s events in Winchester and will look to reschedule his visit as soon as possible.”

He was due in the historic town of Winchester to unveil of a statue of Licoricia, a prominent Jewish businesswoman who died in 1277.

Last night, the future King attended a British Asian Trust reception with Camilla, the Chancellor and Home Secretary.

The 72-year-old Royal is understood to have had all doses of the coronavirus vaccine.
