Crown Princess Mary voted most fashionable Royal

Denmark’s Crown Princess Mary has been voted as the most fashionable Royal in a poll of 30,000 people.

Conducted by Hello! magazine, the vote saw The Duchess of Cambridge, who has won numerous votes similar to this in the past, come in third position. Queen Maxima of the Netherlands beat Catherine to second place.

Mary, mother-of-four, was crowned (no pun intended) top of 10 women from the Royal Families of Europe, with 30% of the vote. The Australian-born Crown Princess actually won the same vote last year too.

Hello! has described Crown Princess Mary as ‘polished without ever being overdone’, also saying she has ‘perfected the art of making appropriate fashion choices that still have an edge’.

Maxima was applauded for her ‘bold and colourful outfits’ (we know how much she loves a large and bright hat!) and it was said she had ‘a sense of fun’ with dressing.

Catherine’s style was described as ‘more conservative’, which generally, I find the British Royal Family to be, as opposed to Europe. The mag also said The Duchess has a ‘firm fashion following’, and that they think she will ‘blossom’ in years to come. Kate has only been part of The Firm for four years, whereas Mary and Maxima have had over a decade to settle into their roles and find their Royal fashion feet.

Sophie, Countess of Wessex, has certainly upped her style stakes in the past few years, and the 50-year-old is described as looking ‘more youthful and stylish than ever’.

The top ten runs as follows:

  1. Crown Princess Mary of Denmark
  2. Queen Maxima of the Netherlands
  3. Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge
  4. Queen Letizia of Spain
  5. Sophie, Countess of Wessex
  6. Queen Rania of Jordan
  7. Charlene, Princess of Monaco,
  8. Princess Madeleine of Sweden
  9. Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden
  10. Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway
