Christmas Day at church for Queen & Royal Family joined by Meghan

Each family has their own Christmas traditions, and the Royal Family’s is attending church with The Queen on Christmas Day. Her Majesty and The Duke of Edinburgh were joined by Prince Charles and Camilla, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle this year to attend the service at St Mary Magdalene’s Church, just a short walk from Sandringham House.

Earlier this morning, the Royals attended an informal service at the church. We saw Princess Anne, The Earl and Countess of Wessex, Prince Andrew and his daughters, Beatrice and Eugenie, The Earl and Countess of Snowdon, plus Lady Sarah Chatto head out.

Crowds had been gathering since the early hours of this morning to see the Royals head to church. Prince Philip quipped to a member of the crowd on the way in:  “Is it a baby? I thought it was a bunch of flowers,” said the Duke of a three-month-old with a decorative green bow on her head.

The Prince of Wales and Duke of York led the family down from the ‘big house’ to church.

The Queen – who was driven down to the church as usual – wore vibrant orange for the day, while The Duchess of Cornwall looked festive in red.

The Duchess of Cambridge opted for a tartan coat and black fur hat, while soon-to-be Royal Meghan chose a camel coat and tan hat.

This is of course Meghan’s first of many royal Christmases to come, but the first in the family for a fiancee.

Princess Beatrice was in a grey coat with blue hat, while Eugenie was in a cobalt blue coat with tan and cream accents, and black. The Countess of Wessex wore a floral midi number, and her daughter, Lady Louise was in a wintery shade of burgundy.

Princess Anne was in navy, and her daughter-in-law Autumn had a navy and red trimmed coat.

Zara and Mike Tindall were absent from the festivities; they are spending the holiday in Australia, a year after the couple suffered a miscarriage just a few weeks after announcing they were expecting their second child.

After the service, some of the younger Royals headed out into the crowds to see well-wishers who had gathered since the early morning.

Flowers were handed over and festive greetings exchanged.
